Chemo sucks! can't say that enough (clearly). I had a most difficult time going back to cancer daycare so soon - it's kinda like walking into a cave and having the boulder pushed across the entrance behind you to prevent escape. As always, the nurses were so exceptional at helping with the transition back. I'm on a new cocktail now which is stronger than the last and of course, the side effects linger on. But first one down, and 5 more to go. This time, we'll be taking a break after session 3 to do a CT scan to check on progress.
I had a pic line inserted in my arm before the chemo treatments - it's basically a 55 cm tube that gets buried like underground cable (or a pipeline...) into a vein so that we don't have to go through the seek and find exercise every time we need to insert an IV. Works like a charm!
We've had a boatload of snow here on the island this past month - about 75 cms for the month so far. Golfers and gardeners are all going through withdrawal right now while we wait for it to melt. It's delayed spring for a good month - that'll teach me for bragging about it in my last blog.
Next week Don and I are off to Tofino (west side of the island) for a nice break and to celebrate his 65th birthday. If you've never been to Tofino, I would highly recommend it if you visit the island. It's our own version of Hawaii, just not quite so warm. We will also be hosting some family and friend visits over the next couple of months. I can't express how grateful I am for these visits - I also accept that not all can make the trip so, fingers crossed that these treatments are successful and I may be able to come to some of you this year.
My next 2 rounds of chemo are scheduled for March 7 and March 28. Trust that everyone is keeping well and spirits high. Cheers!
