Recliner Session - (ha, ha tricked you, there are no more)

It's been one month since my last chemo session and the recliner sessions already seems so long ago. Slowly finding my way back to normal as we work our way through getting Don settled into our home. We took a short trip to Quadra Island, one of the islands in Georgia Strait, and stayed at a lovely resort where from our deck we watched otters, seals, and herons cavort around - it was a nice escape.

I had a follow up CT scan on Sept 17 to find out if the chemo worked. As always, inserting the IV was a challenge. After a couple attempts we had to call in a radiologist with ultrasound equipment to search for any veins hidden deep in my arm. Needless, to say this also involved a much longer needle and I'll say no more about how pleasant that was.

I got the scan results last Thursday and although they didn't use the word remission, the report said the extensive lymphadenopathy (enlarged and cancerous lymph nodes) had been resolved. I do have one tiny area still in my pelvis that has stubbornly hung on but we're hoping this too will be resolved when I have the chemo for the stem cell transplant. The doctor said this was the best outcome I could hope for, so we're running with that.

This Thursday we meet with the stem cell doctor in Vancouver to discuss the results and firm up timing and details for the surgery in December. Then we wait for that event and in the meantime will enjoy fall on the island.

Hope this finds you all well. Thanks, as always, for following along on my journey. I probably won't have any updates until December so we'll all get a break. Cheers!
